The historic Maxwell Street Station, home to the University of Illinois Chicago Police Department, houses a five-lane indoor gun range that is utilized by UIC Police Officers to prepare for and complete the marksmanship standards set forth by the state of Illinois, as well as various firearm tactical training exercises. The indoor range is managed by UICPD Range Officers who are responsible for administering the state-mandated annual firearms qualifications of all on and off duty pistols and patrol rifles for sworn personnel. In addition, Range Officers are also responsible for ensuring that all sworn personnel complete the semi-annual less than lethal shotgun qualifications.
