Student Internships

The student internship program is designed so students can get a sense of what a career in law enforcement would entail. The intern will rotate through a variety of shifts and specialty units to understand the numerous tasks a law enforcement officer needs to deal with. This program is unpaid but does provide course credit.

To apply for UIC Police’s internship program, first determine if you will be applying through an LAS internship or a CLJ internship.  If you are going to apply in LAS, contact Lauren Gallagher, assistant director for career development and internships, at laureng4@uic.edu. She will provide instructions for the program. If you choose CLJ, then you have to contact the CLJ department and apply with them first. Once you have completed this step, contact UICPD’s internship coordinator at uicpdpace@uic.edu. You will be emailed application forms and provided with the date they are due. After all forms and applications are received, interviews will be arranged for all applicants. Three interns will be accepted each semester and they will be notified by email that they have been selected.

For more information regarding the student internship program, please email the P.A.C.E. unit at uicpdpace@uic.edu.
