The University of Illinois at Chicago Police Department maintains a fleet of specially-equipped mountain bikes to utilize alternative patrol techniques to address criminal activity and to enhance the mobility and range of patrols on campus. The 20+ Members of the UICPD Bicycle Patrol program receive specialized police cyclist training through the North East Multi-Regional Training Institute that focuses on the use of the bicycle as a patrol vehicle.
