Chief Kevin L. Booker, comes from a strong background of education and career experience. With a friendly, logical, goal oriented, and well-rounded personality, it comes as no surprise that Chief Booker is an active mentor to the youth of the 12th district community and is widely respected. He stands out in his executive position with his strong administrative, leadership, team-player, and relationship-building skills. Chief Booker is knowledgeable about public safety, law enforcement, security methods, campus regulations, crowd control techniques, investigative procedures, state and federal laws, and business and management principles. This knowledge has helped Chief Booker hold many titles throughout his career. Titles range from Community Service Officer at Indiana State University Police Department, Adjunct Professor at Ivy Tech State College, Police Officer at Purdue University Police Department, Commander and Deputy Chief at University of Chicago Police Department, to now Chief of Police at the University of Illinois at Chicago Police Department. His ability to move up the ladder of success within the field of Criminal Justice is also a reflection of his internal desires to achieve excellence and his educational achievements.
Chief Booker graduated from Indiana State University with a Bachelor of Science in Criminology and a minor in Public Administration, as well as a Master of Science in Public Administration with a 3.9 GPA. He attended and graduated from the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy, the Federal Bureau of Investigation National Academy, the Executive Development Training Institute from Northwestern University Center for Public Safety Development, and the Harvard Executive Education Program. Chief Booker also has memberships with many professional affiliations such as International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators (IACLEA), International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), Federal Bureau of Investigations National Academy Association (FBINNA), Collegiate Athletic Operations Services (CAOS), and National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE). Chief Kevin L. Booker lives by a strong value system which allows him to consistently show determination, self-control, and good judgment.
