University of Illinois Chicago Police Department announces ‘Click It or Ticket’ campaign numbers

(Chicago, IL.) The University of Illinois Chicago Police Department (UICPD) today announced it issued 22 citations during the Memorial Day “Click It or Ticket” enforcement period.

“Through the Memorial Day enforcement campaign, we helped make Illinois roads safer and spread the word that seat belts save lives,” said Justin Wooden, captain of internal affairs and community outreach.

During the enforcement period, UICPD wrote five citations for seat belt violations and took the following additional actions:

▪ Recovered one stolen vehicle

▪ Identified four suspended/revoked licenses

▪ Wrote one distracted driving citation

▪ Issued 12 other citations

The “Click It or Ticket” campaign is funded with federal highway safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
