Bicycle/e-scooter Registration

Bicycle/e-scooter theft and registration program Heading link

The Bicycle Registration Program was developed in 1993 as part of the Community Affairs/Crime Prevention program and has been expanded to include e-scooters. The program’s purpose is to increase campus community awareness of the problem of bicycle and e-scooter theft and encourage the registration of as many bikes and e-scooters as possible to facilitate their recovery.

Bicycles and e-scooters are registered through the UICPD community affairs officer and information about the program is promoted on campus. In addition, signs are posted, ads routinely appear in campus newspapers and a master plan is maintained for campus bicycle and e-scooter parking sites, lighting and signage. Bicycles and e-scooters are jointly registered with the UIC Police Department and the Chicago Police Department.

To register your bicycle or e-scooter, please submit the online registration form and select whether you’re registering a stolen or non-stolen item. Bicycles and e-scooters will be jointly registered with the UIC Police Department and the Chicago Police Department. Once registered, a UIC registration tag will be mailed to the address listed on the registration form.

To learn the status of a stolen bike or e-scooter, call the UIC Police at (312) 996-2830.

Per UIC policy, use of e-scooters on campus is prohibited.
